Telescope Workshop May 22 2011 at Bookmans

This is the forum for discussion about the upcoming Bookmans Telescope Workshop. Be sure to read it for any changes in the schedule event.

We call it the Bookman's Telescope Workshop because PAS Is hosting this event at Bookman's Entertainment Exchange at 19th Ave and Northern, N.W. Corner, in their back room.

This is an indoor event. Thus, only extreme weather will cancel the event, or if we do not have enough Telescope Teachers for the number of telescopes attending the event.

This is a laid back, informal instruction, usually 1 on 1, designed to give you advice on how to use your telescope by daylight. We can check your collimation, if needed, we can advise on eyepieces, we can let you know
some objects your scope will be able to see, we can provide informational handouts (help yourself to the whole table of handouts), and some star charts to get you started.

Bring with you: Your telescope, eyepieces, accessories, books, charts, anything you have for your scope that you might want to discuss its use with the PAS Telescope Teachers.

What if you don't have a telescope yet? Come discuss scopes, their uses, the forte's, their weaknesses, the sizes, the goals you may have with your future scope... and we will help you decide which one to buy based on the discussion.
Then before you buy, attend several star parties, and ask questions, view through others scopes, learn what you need to know to make a good choice in your first telescope purchase.

After this event, sign up to attend a near by public star party or the next Telescope Workshop at PVCC, and learn to use your scope by night. The difference is literally Night and Day.

Everyone attending needs to RSVP. No public RSVP's may cancel this event.

PAS Members: If you know anything about any of the scopes listed below and can assist, it would be greatly appreciated. RSVP your attendance below. Thanks.

Telescope Students:

* Gwendolyn & David: Scope: Meade 4500

* John M. I’m responding to the Bookman’s Telescope workshop event for Sunday, May 22nd. I have a Celestron CM-1100 SCT which I have not yet used, although I have used an 8” Meade SCT a few years ago so I am only partially clueless about operating a telescope

* Jose A - no scope, wants to find out more about scopes
