PAS MEETING

Tonight's meeting features: David Portree
Data about this meeting: ...
Title: “AFTER TRANQUILITY: NASA SEEKS A FUTURE AFTER APOLLO 11”
The Apollo Program created a $25-billion space infrastructure with enormous promise. In December 1972, however, American astronauts left the Moon for the last time. Historian David S. F. Portree, formerly with NASA and USGS and now a member of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter team at ASU-Tempe, describes 1960's plans for our future in space and discusses why, after half a century, the promise of Apollo remains unfulfilled.
