Default We're here!

Hello and Welcome to all. Well, I learned years ago that when you join something you love (astronomy), to welcome yourself as a way of introduction. Rose and I attended the September event at PVCC and I learned a very important lesson: Don’t be afraid to trick-out your scope. So I am now experimenting with the goofy and wild concept of using our 8” Dob for astrophotography. At least until we win the lottery and can get a proper setup. But it’s all fun, fun, fun. Looking forward to more activities. As we live in Sun City, we are close to semi-dark skies (Lake Pleasant area).

Can someone point the way as to how to get some time on our automatic scope up in New River?

Hello Dan and Rose,
If you mean time on your scope I have no clue. After retiring the time for me is harder to find.
Astrophotography is one part of astronomy that appeals but is so illusive that most don't try.
My first and only picture was of Jupiter taken with a Meade simple ccd camera.
We live in Anthem near New River and the light polution is gaining on us.
APS is balking at putting on a light shield to help with the street light.
My next step is to find out how to educate APS on the Maricopa light rules.
When that is corrected we may have some areas to set up scopes and help put time on our hobby.
Albert
