Default This topic will be discussed at the MOM"s on July 28

Please attend the Meeting of the Minds on July 28 to find out more
about this event.

Remember, this event falls during the monsoon season and
an RSVP is very much appreciated so that we can cancel
with you, should the need arise, due to monsoon weather.

Please go RSVP right now, if you plan to attend the Aug 13
event.
http://www.pasaz.org/forums/calendar...=2011-8-13&c=1

If / When this event gets canceled for Aug 13, the back up date
for this event will be Dec 10. RSVP if you can attend that
event, too so that we know the number in attendance.
http://www.pasaz.org/forums/calendar...2011-12-10&c=1

Both of these dates are scheduled to be at Mike's home in Carefree. If you are not a current PAS member, but you would like to attend the event, your RSVP needs to be with Mike so he can give you directions, or a map, etc. If you wish to attend and want a paper map to get to his home, attend the MOM's on July 28, as that is the next time we will be getting together, physically, with the group, prior to this event. Or you can RSVP with Mike by phone at 480-488-3031. Leave a message if he doesn't answer, and he will call you back. Please RSVP by the Friday prior to the event. Thanks.

We'd love to see you there. This is open to anyone with
at telescope. One telescope per attending MARATHONER.
If you are helping your Son or Daughter to do the marathon,
share the scope with them.

This is a timed event. That means, first to finish gets the prize.
There is no time to help someone with their scope and find the
Moon features in your scope. We prefer one scope for each person
who wishes to compete.

This is our first event like this. We will learn from this event how
to do the next one. So, if you attend and come up with some
ideas to share about how to improve next year's event, send them
my way so we can make those adjustments.

More details about how we are doing this year's event can be read
in this forum thread:

Default Canceling Aug 13 event:

I do believe that
Due to Lack of Attendees
& the weather not cooperating
We are canceling the Marathon part of this event tonight.

However, Remember that MIke is still doing the
potluck and the party part of this event.
If you wish to attend, give Mike a call
so he knows you are coming 480-488-3031

He will be glad you came.

Everyone have a super evening.
Watch for updates about this event.

Terri

Default Update 9/9: Oct 8, 2011

October 8th, 2011:

This is a public event. RSVP with Mike at 480-488-3031 or PrimeFactorY@q.com by Noon, day of event. Mike will have to give you the map or directions to get to his home.

PAS Members, please RSVP below and mention what part, if not all, of this event you would like to attend.

We will be holding a potluck at 4pm.

If you do not wish to participate in the potluck, show up for the

Moon Marathon starting at 6pm.

We predict the Moon Marathon will last about
an hour or so, and it is a challenge to view the various features of the Moon and beat other folk to identifying those features, to win prizes.

The public is welcome to compete in the marathon. We have 13 prizes available. Sign up for the Marathon through Events@pasaz.org by day before, if possible.

8pm Following the Marathon will be a star party until whenever.
Everyone is welcome.

The highlight, besides the Moon, on this night, will be Jupiter, which doesn't rise until 7:25, and the best view of Jupiter will be about an hour after it rises, so 8;30 will be a good time to see Jupiter.

Since it is International Observe the Moon Night, we are hoping to have a bunch of public attending the event, and viewing the MOON. Those who are in the marathon will not be sharing their telescopes until they are done with the marathon. But others may bring their scopes and share the Moon and other objects throughout the night.

For the potluck:
Bring a main dish to share.
Bring a drink to share (6 pack of pop, bottled water)

For the Star Party:
Bring a jacket
Chair
binoculars if you have them
Only RED filtered flashlights will be permitted
And bring a snack to share.

More details will be posted as they become available.
