Default DBG Luminaria 2016

Good day to everyone,

December is almost upon us.

PAS will be doing it's 4th year of the Desert Botanical Gardens Luminaria....

We did it in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and now we at DBG for the Luminaria nights of 2018 for 29 nights of December.

If you didn't get the chance to read about the 2016 event, please take a peek at this link: file:///C:/Users/Terri/Downloads/PAStimes%20Suppliment%20July%202018.pdf
And Enjoy!

Keep in mind that the Telescopes and Presenters are at DBG - Weather Permitting. Many people have asked me about the weather for this weekend, and it isn't looking so great, at this time. However, as you may know, no one can predict the weather this far out.... we need to be predicting, as an example: This Saturday's weather, on Saturday morning for that night's event. So, as i see it now, there are too many clouds for Dec 1 and Dec 2 to have telescopes at DBG Lumi's, but weather changes... and by Saturday morning, all 4 telescopes and a Presenter may be a possibility at the Las Noches de las Luminarias....

And while you are visiting to see the pathways lit up by Luminaria, there will be 10 bands playing for your entertainment, food, drink, and the Electric Desert. It's going to be a fantastic December.

So, here's the plan for PAS and what is provided at DBG for all of December:

1) Clear skies = 4 telescopes + 1 presenter with Meteorites
2) Mostly clear skies = 4 telescopes + 1 presenter with Meteorites
3) Partly cloudy skies = If more than 50% cloud cover is predicted, we will cut back on how many telescopes are there based on what we think we can show through the holes in the clouds, but we also might increase the number of Presenters. So we might have:
a) 3 Scopes + 2 Presenters or
b) 2 Scopes + 2 Presenters or
c) 1 Scope + 2 Presenters
4) If it is really cloudy, but no rain in the forecast - then we will have: 2 Presenters.
5) If rain is coming anytime during 5:30 - 9:30pm - No scopes and No Presenters.

Our goal is to enhance your evening at DBG with a look at the night sky of some awesome object through our high powered telescopes, along with some entertainment and information about what you are seeing, and possibly a Sky Tour using a bright green laser and with stories and facts about what is in our night sky + myths of the constellations & where they are.

Mention you saw this write up on the website in the News section. I'd like to know how many of our visitors to our telescopes are coming due to visiting our site.

A most extremely awesome December to all!
