PAStimes

PAStimes is the newsletter of the Phoenix Astronomical Society. It includes news and reviews of our lecture series and star parties, details of upcoming events, astronomy news, and club info. You can download it here as a free full-color PDF document (Acrobat Reader 6.0 or later recommended), or receive a printed copy on real paper via US mail (members only). PAStimes is published monthly from September through May. We archive here all the issues for the current season. These are large files (a 1-2 Mb), since the newsletter typically runs 6-10 pages and includes images. Download time will, of course, depend on the speed of your internet connection. No worries ... start the download, then go get a cup of coffee, walk the dog, or check the weather. We promise it will be worth the wait.

If you want to print a hardcopy: PAStimes is archived as a PDF file. It will typically print smaller than it was created causing larger margins and 5-10% smaller images. This is because most printer drivers automatically shrink the document to make sure it can fit on a standard 8½ x 11 sheet of paper. Most printers can't print all the way to the edge of the sheet, but the drivers aren't smart enough to realize blank margins aren't an issue. To avoid this problem, when your print dialog box comes up, look for an option something like "shrink page to fit" and deselect it. You can then enjoy the newsletter at the size and resolution intended. Also you will need to right mouse click on the link for the issue you desire to download and select open in a new window, otherwise you will still have that pesky right margin to deal with and you won't be able to save the newsletter to your hard drive.

Deadline for submitted material: Content must be received two weeks before our scheduled Lecture Meeting. The current issue of PAStimes will be posted and mailed approximately one week before that meeting. Links for PAStime issues are available in the chart below. Only those with file sizes listed are functional links.
